Richard Sawicki age 58 a longtime resident of Warren and formerly of Roseville died suddenly at his home in Warren on Saturday June 30, 2012.
Richard was born May 1, 1954 in Detroit Michigan the son of the late Joseph and Rita Sawicki. He was raised in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School the class of 1972.
Rick had a true love for his wife and family however his deep passion was rooted in “wrenching”. Rick was an expert certified mechanic who could just listen to a vehicle engine and diagnose the problem. Rick owned his own automotive repair shop in Royal Oak, Michigan following working for others in the auto mechanic field. When Rick’s health would not allow him to do all the work on the vehicles, he would mentor and guide others through the repair process. In Rick’s eyes you did it right and checked it twice because in the end he was the mechanic putting his personal reputation on that repair. Rick’s customers, family, and friends knew if he fixed the vehicle it would be perfect.
When Rick was not working his life revolved around his family and grandchildren. He had a “heart of gold”, and his daughter said he was the most devoted and best grandfather ever. During his life Rick also enjoyed all the cruises from Gratiot to Woodward. He also would hunt in Northern Michigan with his family and buddies.
Richard is survived by his cherished wife Cheryl, and his dear children, Tracey (Glen) Jabiro, Ricky Sawicki (Arlita), Holly Powers (Bryan), and Derek Sawicki. He was the loving grandfather of Alayssia, Dezeray, Aaron, Cameron, Christian, Kailey, and Amiya. He was the beloved brother of Greg (Kathy) Sawicki, Barb (Jim) Schultz, Joe Sawicki, Mary (Joe) Vichione, and the late Donnie Sawicki. Brother in-law of Charlene (Don) Nowak, Noreen Schulz, and Larry Schulz. Rick is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
