"What is the average Funeral?"
Funerals are in memory of our loved ones, but they also serve as an event for our own comfort and our own need to mourn. Many people have begun to realize this fact and have drifted away from stuffy, impersonal funerals. The days are gone where you feel guilty for not having an extravagant funeral. We are now moving towards a much simpler type of service that allows us to memorialize and celebrate our loved one.
All that matters is the memory of your loved one and how you are able to preserve that memory. Many people find comfort in a traditional funeral service with open casket viewing, church services, while others prefer to reflect with a gathering of friends around a large monitor, with a custom made Memorial Tribute video playing Elton John music in the background. Some choose minimal services providing only the cremation or direct burial of their loved one and the basic services that go along with it. Once the disposition is complete, families may choose to hold their own service in a meaningful location such as residences, restaurants, beaches, parks, yacht clubs or anywhere else the deceased liked to go.
The bottom line is... YES funerals are for the living however they are also the last most important event the person who lived will be provided. This event should reflect the deceased and celebrate the life lived. There is no right funeral or wrong funeral… just as we celebrated our life's milestone events we should all celebrate our most important and last event.
